 The word "Smorgasbord" - normally terrifies me - but here it is great. Lots of variety which is replenished throughout the night (&day). I seem to have my snout in the fresh prawns and oysters when ever I am there :) The service is pretty old school (good), as is the entertainment which might not be everyone's cup of tea - but the atmosphere is such that the singer and band get things happening ... the prices are pretty much stuck in a time warp as well (fantastic). I have been going to Alfred's Homestead for over 20 years now. The food is always fantastic and abundant. Caters for everyone from the fussiest eater to the most adventurous, even vegetarians wont starve! On Saturday nights they have a floorshow which is quite entertaining & lively followed by a great band for you to burn off some calories on the dance floor. The staff are friendly & go out of their way to make sure your time there is enjoyable. Ideal for anything from an intimate dinner for two, to group functions, even wedding receptions. They even have a gorgeous area on their beautiful grounds where you can hold your wedding! There are no words to speak highly enough of this fantastic Melbourne iconic restaurant.....take time to see for yourself and I'm sure it'll fast become one of your favourites too!!! - Fairybeth , posted 04/27/07 |
